If the barley seed sprouted first, it was believed that there would be a son. But if wheat sprouted first, it was believed that there would be a daughter! You will be surprised to know that 70% of the results in this pregnancy test were correct. This is because the estrogen present in the urine of a pregnant woman caused the seeds to germinate. Along with this, ancient Greek people used another method to detect pregnancy, in this they compared the urine of a pregnant woman with the urine of a female frog. If a frog laid eggs after coming in contact with a woman's urine, it was believed that the woman was pregnant.
