One day, a poor boy who was selling goods from door to door to pay his way through school, found he had only one thin dime left, and he was hungry. he decided he would ask for a meal at the next house. however, he lost his nerve when a lovely young woman opened the door. instead of a meal he asked for a drink of water. she thought he looked hungry so brought him a large glass of milk he drank it slowly, and then asked, “how much do i owe you?” “you don’t owe me anything,” she replied “mother has taught us never to accept payment for a kindness.” he said… “then i thank you from my heart.” as howard kelly left that house, he not only felt; stronger physically, but his faith in god and man was strong also. he had been ready to give up and quit. years later that young woman became critically ill. the local doctors were baffled.they finally sent her to the big city, where they called in specialists to study her rare disease. dr. howard kelly was called in for the consultation. when he heard the name of the town she came from, a strange light filled his eyes. immediately he rose and went down the hall of the hospital to her room. dressed in his doctor’s gown he went in to see her. he recognized her at once. he went back to the consultation room determined to do his best to save her life. from that day he gave special attention to the case. after a long struggle, the battle was won. dr. kelly requested the business office to pass the final bill to him for approval. he looked at it, then wrote something on the edge and the bill was sent to her room.she feared to open it,for she was sure it would take the rest of her life to pay for it all. finally, she looked, and something caught her attention on the side as she read these words…… ” paid in full with one glass of milk.” (signed) dr. howard kelly. tears of joy flooded her eyes as her happy heart prayed: “thank you, god, that your love has spread abroad through human hearts and hands.”

A story is told about a soldier who was finally coming home after having fought in vietnam. he called his parents from san francisco. “mom and dad, i’m coming home, but i’ve a favor to ask. i have a friend i’d like to bring home with me. “sure,” they replied, “we’d love to meet him.” “there’s something you should know,” the son continued, “he was hurt pretty badly in the fighting. he stepped on a land mind and lost an arm and a leg. he has nowhere else to go, and i want him to come live with us.” “i’m sorry to hear that, son. maybe we can help him find somewhere to live.” “no, mom and dad, i want him to live with us.” “son,” said the father, “you don’t know what you’re asking. someone with such a handicap would be a terrible burden on us. we have our own lives to live, and we can’t let something like this interfere with our lives. i think you should just come home and forget about this guy. he’ll find a way to live on his own.” at that point, the son hung up the phone. the parents heard nothing more from him. a few days later, however, they received a call from the san francisco police. their son had died after falling from a building, they were told. the police believed it was suicide. the grief-stricken parents flew to san francisco and were taken to the city morgue to identify the body of their son. they recognized him, but to their horror they also discovered something they didn’t know, their son had only one arm and one leg. moral: the parents in this story are like many of us. we find it easy to love those who are good-looking or fun to have around, but we don’t like people who inconvenience us or make us feel uncomfortable. we would rather stay away from people who aren’t as healthy, beautiful, or smart as we are. thankfully, there’s someone who won’t treat us that way. someone who loves us with an unconditional love that welcomes us into the forever family, regardless of how messed up we are. tonight, before you tuck yourself in for the night, say a little prayer that god will give you the strength you need to accept people as they are, and to help us all be more understanding of those who are different from us!

A doctor entered the hospital in hurry after being called in for an urgent surgery. he answered the call asap, changed his clothes and went directly to the surgery block. he found the boy’s father pacing in the hall waiting for the doctor. on seeing him, the father yelled, “why did you take all this time to come? don’t you know that my son’s life is in danger? don’t you have any sense of responsibility?” the doctor smiled and said, “i am sorry, i wasn’t in the hospital and i came as fast as i could after receiving the call and now, i wish you’d calm down so that i can do my work”. “calm down?! what if your son was in this room right now, would you calm down? if your own son dies while waiting for doctor than what will you do??” said the father angrily. the doctor smiled again and replied, “we will do our best by god’s grace and you should also pray for your son’s healthy life”. “giving advises when we’re not concerned is so easy” murmured the father. the surgery took some hours after which the doctor went out happy, “thank goodness! your son is saved!” and without waiting for the father’s reply he carried on his way running by saying, “if you have any questions, ask the nurse”. “why is he so arrogant? he couldn’t wait some minutes so that i ask about my son’s state” commented the father when seeing the nurse minutes after the doctor left. the nurse answered, tears coming down her face, “his son died yesterday in a road accident, he was at the burial when we called him for your son’s surgery. and now that he saved your son’s life, he left running to finish his son’s burial.” moral: never judge anyone because you never know how their life is and what they’re going through.

Once upon a time there was a bunch of tiny frogs who arranged a running competition. the goal was to reach the top of a very high tower. a big crowd had gathered around the tower to see the race and cheer on the contestants. the race began… honestly, no one in crowd really believed that the tiny frogs would reach the top of the tower. crowd yelled statements such as: “oh, way too difficult!!!” “they will never make it to the top.” “not a chance that they will succeed. the tower is too high!” the tiny frogs began collapsing. one by one. except for those, who in a fresh tempo, were climbing higher and higher. the crowd continued to yell, “it is too difficult!!! no one will make it!” more tiny frogs got tired and gave up. but one continued higher and higher and higher. this one wouldn’t give up! at the end everyone else had given up climbing the tower. except for the one tiny frog who, after a big effort, was the only one who reached the top! then all of the other tiny frogs naturally wanted to know how this one frog managed to do it? a contestant asked the tiny frog how he had found the strength to succeed and reach the goal? it turned out. that the winner was deaf!!! :: moral of the story :: never listen to other people’s tendencies to be negative or pessimistic. because they take your most wonderful dreams and wishes away from you — the ones you have in your heart! always think of the power words have. because everything you hear and read will affect your actions! therefore, always be positive! be deaf when people tell you that you cannot fulfill your dreams!

One day, while father was working his son came… son: papa may i ask you a question? father: sure son: papa how much money do you make an hour? father (got upset a bit): why do you ask such thing..!! son: i just want to know. please tell. father: i make 500rs per hour. son (with his head down): oh..!! (looking up) papa, can i borrow 300rs? father (furiously): if only reason you asked me this just to borrow some money to buy some silly toy then go to your room and think why your are so selfish. i work hard every day to earn this money. following his father order son quietly went to his room and shut the door. father sat down and was getting even more angry about the question son asked him. after an hour or so, father calmed down and started to think, “may be he really needed that money for something important as he never asked for money very often.” then father went to his son room and opened the door. he came near to his son bed and asked, “are you asleep son?” “no papa”, replied son “i have been thinking, may be i was too hard on you that time. its been a long day and because of that i got angry on you. here is the money you asked for.” father said. the little boy sat straight smiling “oh thank you papa” then, reaching under his pillow he pulled some crippled up notes. the man, seeing that the boy already had money, started to get angry again. the little boy slowly counted out his money, then looked up at his father. “why do you want money if you already had some?” the father grumbled. “because i didn’t have enough, but now i do,” the little boy replied. “papa i have rs. 500 now. can i buy an hour of your time? please come home early tomorrow. i would like to have dinner with you”. father was dumbstruck. moral: we should not let time slip through our fingers without having spent some time with those who really matter to us, those close to our hearts.

An old man came to live with his son, daughter-in-law and little grandson. old man physical condition was not very good. his hand trembled and eye sight was weak and his step faltered. the family used to ate dinner together on the table. but the old man shaky hands and weak eye sight made it difficult for him to eat properly and his food used to fell of his spoon on to the floor. when he drank milk, it got spilled on the table cloth. both son and son’s wife got irritated because of this mess. “we must do something about him. we have had enough of this noisy eating and food on floor.” from then on, grandfather used to ate alone in his room while rest of family enjoyed dinner at table. his food was served in wooden bowl as he had broken one or two dish. his eyes got filled with tears whenever family glanced in his direction as he sat alone. the little four year old kid watched it all in silence. one evening little kid was playing with some wood scraps. his father noticed and sweetly asked him “what are you doing son?” just as sweetly, the boy responded, “oh, i am making a little bowl for you and mama to eat your food in when i grow up.” the four-year-old smiled and went back to work. these words struck the parents and they were speechless. then tears started to stream down their cheeks. though no word was spoken, both knew what must be done. same evening the husband took his father’s hand and slowly led him to the table for dinner. for the rest of his life the old man enjoyed his dinner with rest of the family at dinner table. and for some reason, neither husband nor wife seemed to care any longer when a fork was dropped, milk spilled, or the tablecloth soiled. moral: you reap what you sow. regardless of your relationship with your parents, you’ll miss them when they’re gone from your life. always respect, care for and love them.

A little boy wanted to meet god. he knew it was a long trip to where god lived. so he packed his suitcase with a bag of potato chips and a six-pack of soft drink and started his journey. when he had gone about three blocks, he met an old man. he was sitting in the park, just staring at some pigeons. the boy sat down next to him and opened his suitcase. he was about to take a drink from his bottle when he noticed that the old man looked hungry, so he offered him some chips. he gratefully accepted it and smiled at him. his smile was so pretty that the boy wanted to see it again, so he offered him a soft drink. again, he smiled at him. the boy was delighted! they sat there all afternoon eating and smiling, but they never said a word... as twilight approached, the boy realized how tired he was and he got up to leave; but before he had gone more than a few steps, he turned around, ran back to the old man, and gave him a hug. he gave him his biggest smile ever... when the boy opened the door to his own house a short time later, his mother was surprised by the look of joy on his face. she asked him, 'what did you do today that made you so happy?' he replied, 'i had lunch with god.' but before his mother could respond, he added, 'you know what? he's got the most beautiful smile i've ever seen!' meanwhile, the old man, also radiant with joy, returned to his home. his son was stunned by the look of peace on his face and he asked, 'dad, what did you do today that made you so happy?' he replied 'i ate potato chips in the park with god.' however, before his son responded, he added, 'you know, he's much younger than i expected.' too often we underestimate the power of a touch, a smile, a kind word, a listening ear, an honest compliment, or the smallest act of caring, all of which have the potential to turn a life around. people come into our lives for a reason, a season, or a lifetime! embrace all equally! have lunch withgod...bring chips.

Socrates moral stories - trust in relationship moral stories in ancient times, socrates (philosopher) in greece were considered in high esteem for their knowledge. one day a follower of great philosopher went to him and started saying, “do you know what things i just heard about one of your friend?” just before he could say anything further philosopher interrupted him saying, “hold on a minute. before you tell me about my friends it would be good to just wait for moment and filter what you are going to say. i call it a triple filter test” philosopher continued, “first filter is truth.. have you made sure that what ever you are going to tell me, is true?” “well no, actually i just heard about it..” replied man. “ok. so you are not sure if it’s true or not.” said philosopher. he continued, “now, lets try second filter. it’s filter of goodness. thing you are going to tell me about my friend, is it something good?” “no, on contrary..” replied man. now philosopher said, “so, the thing you are going to tell me about my friend is bad and you are not sure if it’s true..” he continued and said, “you may still pass test. because there is one filter left. last filter is filter of usefulness. is what ever you are going to tell me about my friends, is it going to be of any use to me?” “no not really..” replied man “well” concluded philosopher and questioned to man, “if what you want to tell is neither true, nor good and not even useful, then you want to tell me about it at all??” moral: if we get to know something we should check if it’s true. when it’s about friendship or relationship all bonds are built on trust. we should just trust any rumor about people close to us. the happiness of your life depends on quality of your thoughts.
